Bolton Arena's football pitches will be resurfaced and new floodlights will be installed.
Bolton Arena Sports Village has announced that the eagerly awaited 10-week resurfacing programme of the seven-a-side, nine-a-side pitches, new perimeter fencing and floodlights for both areas, has commenced.
There is a huge anticipation of excitement building amongst the week-to-week footballers and football clubs.
A spokesman for the arena said: "Over the course of the refurbishment, we’ll update you week on week of the developments, which will showcase Bolton Arena as having the most up to date 3G playing surface.
"We are delighted to have one of the UK's largest and longest established sports facility construction contractors, Blakedown Sport & Play, returning to the Arena to oversee the project, after their first instalment almost 20 years ago."
The first week of the redevelopment will see the removal of all fencing, as well as some surface removal.
Football manager, Marcus Bailey-Brown, said: "Players of all ages will be able to take advantage of the state-of-the-art pitches with shock pad synthetic rubber, and the latest LED floodlight technology to ensure the best quality of games all year round."
The pitches may not be usable in this time.
